Woman charged with husband’s death

PALMER (AP/abc40) –Police say a man was fatally injured in Palmer after being struck by a van driven by his wife.
Palmer police say Starleen Rutkowski, 46, intentionally hit her husband, Richard Rutkowski, 50, with the couple’s mini-van several times last evening.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. last night in the parking lot of Country Manor Apartments off Lariviere Street.
Police say it was the result of a domestic dispute.
The victim was taken to Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer where he was pronounced dead.
Starleen Rutkowski faces a murder charge at her arraignment in Palmer District Court later this morning.
Police said preliminary reports show that the husband may have been struck by the vehicle more than once.

WEST SPRINGFIELD (abc40) — A West Springfield woman has been ordered held on $250,000 bail in the murder of her husband.
Fifty-nine year old Joann Brodeur pleaded innocent at her arraignment today in Springfield District Court.
She is accused of fatally stabbing 70-year-old Joseph Brodeur on Wednesday night in their home on Bear Hole Road.
Prosecuters say Brodeur attempted to clean up the scene after she killed her husband. They also say the couple was in the middle of a divorce.
Police arrested Brodeur Thursday night, she’s being held on $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 surety.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled August 30.
