Five years for date-rape drug woman

January 17, 01

A temptress who used the date rape drug Rohypnol to rob her wealthy victims has been jailed for five years.

Selina Hakki, the first woman in Britain to be convicted of plying men with the powerful sedative, pocketed thousands of pounds of valuables after cruising exclusive night spots for likely prey.

Police fear she robbed at least half-a-dozen victims.

Once she spotted a potential target sporting designer clothes or an expensive watch, the mother-of-two used her pout, a generous display of cleavage and bared thigh or two to secure an invitation back to their posh apartments.

With the help of red wine to conceal the drug’s bright blue dye, she then encouraged them to drink up. Within minutes they were “out for the count” on the bed.

Two men she was convicted of targeting – banker Volker Vogler and film producer Alexander Jovy – came to hours later to find the sex siren had disappeared with many of their prized possessions.

When police raided her home they found an Aladdin’s cave of property.

Only one item, a £200 Tiffany clock stolen from the bank manager, was identified. The rest is thought to have belonged to as yet unidentified victims snared by her charms and the glass of spiked wine.

The jury at London’s Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court took just 20 minutes last month to convict Guyana-born Hakki of four offences.

Two of them accused the 37-year-old of Gale Street, Bow, East London, of administering Rohypnol with intent to commit theft, and two of stealing £20,000 of property between May 2002 and August the following year.
