A 41-year-old dance instructor was indicted Thursday on charges that she repeatedly sexually assaulted one of her students.

Sandra Borrego was indicted on 22 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to court records.

She is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy who took classes at Most Precious Blood Catholic School in late 2006, police said.

The boy said he had sexual contact with Borrego on about 20 to 30 occasions behind a curtain in the school’s cafeteria and at her house, according to an arrest affidavit.

A district judge in October 2007 ruled police could collect DNA samples from Borrego and her daughter, who was 6 months old at the time, to determine who fathered the child.

Borrego, who was released from the Nueces County Jail on $25,000 bond that same month, rented space and taught folkloric dance on church property for several years, according to Diocese of Corpus Christi officials.

Prosecutor Anna Jimenez said Thursday she has received the DNA results but could not disclose further details because it is part of the pending case.
